May 10 through 16, we celebrate National Hospital Week 2020. This week highlights the adage “health comes first,” a motto of every hospital, health system and person involved in keeping our communities healthy. In addition, National Nurses Week, which we celebrated May 6 through 12 this year, has expanded into a month-long celebration to elevate and celebrate nursing.
#ANANursesMonth begins today! Nurses play a critical role in the health of our nation and this year's events highlight that even more. Because one week is not enough, ANA will honor nurses for the entire month of May! To learn more, click here: https://t.co/laeT5bHCvh #NNW pic.twitter.com/irwC0iFEAl

Now more than ever, we appreciate our hospitals and health care workers for the extraordinary work they put forth to support our community. The Memorial District would especially like to thank Memorial Hermann Memorial City hospital and all health care workers in our area for their commitment to caring for our community.
As the largest health system in Southeast Texas, Memorial Hermann employs nearly 9,000 nurses. Nurses at Memorial Hermann are committed to delivering innovative, safe, high quality and compassionate care to patients at each of the system’s 14 hospitals and more than 220 diagnostic and specialty centers.

“Our healthcare professionals at Memorial Hermann are always ready—every day—to help, inspire, heal and give extra support to all patients and their loved ones,” said Chuck Stokes, RN, FACHE, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Memorial Hermann.
Many Memorial Hermann facilities have received national recognition for their excellence in nursing care. For example, Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center earned a designation as a Magnet® facility, which is one of the highest levels of recognition a hospital can receive.

“National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week provide us with a special time to celebrate the incredible impact our nurses, physicians, administrators, staff and volunteers have on care delivery and, ultimately, the success of our system. We salute those who make us who we are,” said Stokes.
Want to help Houston health care workers? Consider buying them a meal from one of the restaurants here in the Memorial District. Use our Business Directory to get the contact information for your favorite restaurant, and then call and ask if there is a program for buying frontline workers a meal.
