May 2020

Features, events and community that set the Memorial District apart.

Reopening for Business

Many Memorial District businesses are reopening at limited capacity and are thrilled to welcome you back. We encourage you to follow all health guidelines, such as those on safe distancing. Check out our list and call ahead to verify hours.

Thanking Our Healthcare Heroes

We owe many thanks to hospitals and health care workers for their extraordinary work, and we recognize frontline workers as real-life superheroes. We observed National Hospital Week 2020 from May 10 to 16 and celebrated National Nurses Week, which expanded from May 6 to 12 into a month-long celebration.

Helping with Quarantine Habits

You’re not alone if you’ve noticed yourself developing new habits in the new normal. Many people are seeing changes in their eating habits, sleep patterns, and exercise routines. There are ways to understand the changes and then build upon beneficial habits and eliminate unhealthy ones.

Memorial Hermann offers ideas on keeping healthy habits.

Enjoying the Fun of Biking

May is National Bike Month, and the Memorial District is the perfect place for biking. We have shops where you can buy and trade bikes or purchase safety gear and supplies for a ride. We even have bikes you can rent from a bike-share operation.

Combatting Stress

It’s always important to maintain our physical and mental well-being. We collected a list of resources to help you find a doctor easily, access talk therapy from home, listen to mindfulness podcasts, keep fit with online workout classes, enjoy indoor activities, find social connections, and more.

#WeAreInThisTogether

As businesses cautiously reopens with limited occupancy, we encourage our community to continue to practice safety measures, such as social distancing and hand washing. Together, we can keep our community safe.
