In an effort to help Houstonians prepare for tropical storms or any other disaster, the City of Houston Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security has developed a website and mobile app to provide preparedness information for a five-county region in Southeast Texas ( Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, and Montgomery Counties, as well as the cities of Galveston, Houston, LaPorte, and Pasadena.)

The website,www.readyhoustontx.go, is a Houston-centered version of FEMA's Ready.gov program with a focus on specific hazards and concerns for Houston and the surrounding area. The side is funded by a grant from the US Office of Homeland Security.

The free Ready App is a mobile tool for planing and preparing for an emergency. The app is available for download on Android and iOS
