Find Fall Fashion Trends in the Memorial District

Memorial District retailers have rolled out the red carpet for fall fashion this year. This season brings orange, amber, and neutral tones into the mix along with faux leather textures, and let's not forget the shacket—a cross between a jacket and a shirt. Some call it an overshirt. It is excellent for layering, especially in Houston's mild fall weather.

In fashion this fall, we expect to see billowy blouses tucked into straight-legged jeans, sporting the newer loose fit. Trends will include neutral-toned shackets in patterns or solid colors paired with faux leather skirts and a neutral bodysuit, and knee-high boots have made a comeback this season, along with booties in different textures and colors. Jewel-toned sweatsuits can pair with an ankle-length shacket and the neutral-colored Nike Jordans or Air Force 1s. Military boots paired with skirts, button-down shirts, and soft floral patterns have been seen on all the runways this season. Doctor Marten shoes make for a classic, comfy fit, allowing you to put your spin on a utilitarian boot.

Anything Bling, located in Town and Country Village, is well stocked on everything for fall fashion. They are a one-stop-shop for everything you need to update your wardrobe, including boots, jewelry, coats, and dresses. Choose from green, and earth-toned sweaters with flounced cut-off sleeves, perfectly paired with your favorite denim, booties, or mules. Shop for blouses in amber and blue hues with puffed or ruched sleeves, perfect for a day in the office or date night.

Hemline, located in CITYCENTRE, offers jewel-toned dresses perfect for date night, paired with booties, and are sure to be a hit this season. Pop in to shop the latest fall fashion finds, such as earth-toned shackets and neutral-colored skirts.

Saige & Rose in Memorial City Mall has your next date night or girls' night out outfit ready for your choosing. Select from earth-toned blazer dresses to satin button-down dresses, perfect for your next occasion. Are you looking for more textured pieces? Shop for ruched faux leather skirts that can go with booties and a black top. It'll be your next go-to outfit for fun!

Visit Marlo Miller Boutique on Kingsride Lane across from Memorial Hermann for a casual bohemian and western chic touch.

Many of the Memorial District’s summertime activities for children are back and better than ever this year. There is something for every child, whether you prefer activities that are academic, active, or just plain fun.

Life Time Athletic CITYCENTRE’s family-friendly activities this summer include Super Builder Challenge on June 5, Tween Game Night on June 5, and Slime and Splash on June 19. Each event takes place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Super Builder Challenge is a competition event where children build with blocks. Tween Game Night is a time for kids to have a blast with board games. During Slime and Splash, children make messy slime of different colors in a science lab. Each event includes a pizza party. Keep an eye on summertime activities at Life Time Athletic CITYCENTRE here.

Each summer, Memorial City Mall offers a wide range of activities for children. Here are some of the events on offer so far.

Head over to Frolic’s Castle, the world’s largest indoor soft play space, every Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Friday Funday with Frolic. Memorial City Mall’s mascot, Frolic, will make a special appearance and take pictures with the kids.

Next, bring your children to the Square at Memorial City Mall for Kidtastic, Summer in the City, an event series just for kids. Two events are on the schedule so far for June. First, on June 9, check out Kidtastic’s Art at Frolic’s Castle.

Then, on June 23, it’s Kidtastic’s Magic with Michael Blanco.

Plus, don’t forget that Friday Family Movie Night is back with free family-friendly movies at a new time, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., at the Square at Memorial City Mall. Watch from the grassy area or one of the fabulous patios surrounding the Square. On June 11, catch Thor: Ragnarok.

You can now register for summer camps at Adventure Kids Memorial City. Each week has a different theme, and there are dynamic group activities, hands-on creative projects, and fun games each day. These day camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. KinderCare at Bunker Hill also has a great 12-week summer program for children. The daily activities are designed to make your child’s summertime exciting and memorable.

Help your children devote time to important academic activities over the summer with mathematics tutoring from Mathnasium Memorial City. Keep those mathematics skills sharp with just a few hours of tutoring each week. Similarly, check out the tutoring opportunities for young musicians at Sessions Music and Virtuosi of Houston.

Are you wondering about the safety of in-person events for children? According to Jean Raphael, MD, MPH of Texas Children’s Hospital in the Memorial District, the benefits of children participating in in-person activities this summer may outweigh other concerns if safety measures are a priority at those camps. In the Memorial District, our businesses take safety seriously. You can anticipate the continued practice of physical distancing, masking, and hand-washing at all events. Learn more here.

As you plan activities for your children this year, look to the Memorial District first!
