Get Organized with Help from Memorial District Shops

January is the perfect time to press the restart button and reorganize your life. Memorial District businesses have everything you need to get things under control, whether you’re looking to overhaul your closet or simply get some peace of mind.

If you need encouragement, head to Barnes and Nobles bookstore at Town and Country Village to pick up books with tips to help. For example, it has been nearly 10 years since Marie Kondo’s “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing” changed the organizing game around the world, but books like this are still a helpful place to start if you want to get rid of things that no longer spark joy. Then, if you discover you have things to get rid of, you can say out with the old and in with the new by donating them to Goodwill Houston.

Once you have a plan, stop by JC Penney at Memorial City Mall to find items like closet organizers, bins, baskets, bathroom or kitchen storage, desk organizers, and storage furniture like bookshelves. Similarly, Target at Memorial City has cubbies, utility storage tubs, totes, drawers, and cabinets. At Walgreens in Town and Country Village, get items like new hangers, vacuum-seal storage bags, shoe organizers that hang on the back of your closet door, and drawer organizers. They even have bed risers that go under the feet of your bed to lift it up and create space for storage.

Is the area that needs the most attention your home office or desk? Check out the helpful desk organization products at Paper Source at CITYCENTRE. They have everything from file folders to pencil cups. Also, if you are someone who could benefit from a 2022 calendar or a new journal, Paper Source has excellent options.

Gift store Things Remembered might not be the first place you think of when you are organizing your home and getting things in order. You might be surprised to find they have a lovely selection of jewelry and keepsake boxes. They also have unique desk organizers, some of which you can get with a special engravement.

Last, the beginning of a new year is a great time to organize your finances with help from experts at banks and financial advisors in the Memorial District. Experts at Origin Bank at Memorial City, Frost Bank at Town and Country Village, or Wells Fargo at 901 Gessner could help. Want to get a head start on your taxes? Contact advisors at H&R Block in Suite 400 at 9742 Katy Freeway for help.

Whatever area of your life needs a reorganization refresh, you can count on your favorite Memorial District shops for help.

New year? New home! Let 2022 be the year you tackle those DIY projects throughout your home and spruce up your place with contemporary furnishings.

The Home Depot offers Behr paints, which you can mix in-store. A new light fixture can quickly light up a room and provide that new look you've been striving for. Perhaps you are looking for storage solutions that will help control the clutter. Home Depot can help.

If you want to furnish your home with rugs, sofas, accent chairs, bedroom suites, or dining tables, be sure to check out Rooms To Go, located on I-10 near Gessner. Save money by buying entire rooms to get the best bang for your buck. Be sure to check out their New Year's sale or other sales going on now. Looking for modern glitz and glamour in your home? You can refresh a home by adding new house plants. Our friends at The Flora Culture can help you pick out a new plant with a unique pot. Pop into their shop located in CITYCENTRE.

Looking to get rid of all your old, gently used furniture or other household items. Donate them to Goodwill Houston located at 10521 Katy Freeway. Donating is the perfect way to upcycle items that can be used by someone else.

Happy new year and have fun giving your home a fun refresh.

Exciting things are happening in the Memorial District, with Houston-based Midway working on new projects at CITYCENTRE. There are two big developments, one called CITYCENTRE Two and another called CITYCENTRE Seven.

CITYCENTRE Two is already 96% leased, and Amazon Web Services, Jacobs, Infosys, and Pin Oak will occupy some of the new office space. The space is now open, so come on by and check it out.

"We are thrilled that CITYCENTRE is emerging as an innovation hub for new office tenants," Robert Williamson, vice president of investment management for Midway, said in a press release regarding the CITYCENTRE Two space. "These companies are pioneers of technology and energy, and it is humbling to be able to offer these top-of-the-line office spaces for Houstonians in the process."

Then, CITYCENTRE Seven will include modern office spaces, a beautiful new hotel, and ground-floor retail.  It will surround about one acre of land. Located on the site of the former Four Points by Sheraton Hotel at the southeast corner of Interstate 10 and Beltway 8, CITYCENTRE Seven is expected to open in early 2022.

Midway also hired a new senior vice president of hospitality development, Jonathan Horowitz, who will lead the company's new in-house hospitality development group. The creation of this new group coincides with the CITYCENTRE Seven effort and the new hotel and restaurants.

"There exists a unique opportunity to further expand upon Midway's hospitality holdings through organic growth, strategic partnerships, and potential acquisitions; I am looking forward to leading that effort," Horowitz recently told the Houston Business Journal. One of his team's objectives will be to review Midway's restaurant segment, which means new and exciting dining experiences could be on the horizon for CITYCENTRE soon as well.

Stay tuned for further details about the new shops, restaurants, workspaces, and hotel experiences!
