A fixture in the Memorial District, Cyclone Anaya’s Mexican Kitchen blends fresh ingredients and bold flavors to create inspired entrees and elevated classics.
In addition to made-from-scratch lunch and dinner delights, Cyclone Anaya’s offers a weekend brunch with upbeat music, $3 mimosas and poinsettias, and sumptuous food. Try the Crabmeat Omelet made with jumbo lump crabmeat, cheese, avocado, and roasted corn or the Carne Asada and Eggs - wood-fired skirt steak with eggs and chipotle roasted potatoes. Accompany either with a Rock 'n Roll Bloody Mary, a spicy blend of Bloody Mary mix with Texas vodka, pickled jalapeno, olive, and lime.
First opened in 1956, now with six restaurants in the Houston-area, Cyclone Anaya’s takes its name from its founder, a former champion professional wrestler. His story is as interesting as the food which has roots in recipes belonging to his wife, Caroline. Each item on the menu has been carefully and thoughtfully planned to give diners a meal to remember.
While great food is a given at Cyclone Anaya’s, don’t miss the drinks. Each month has featured drink specials and margaritas made from a different sponsored tequila. This March sample margaritas made with Casamigos -George Clooney’s brand of tequila.
As we slide into spring, come sit on the Cyclone Anaya’s patio, watch the activity on the plaza at CityCentre and enjoy a great brunch, tasty lunch or fresh happy hour. Visit the CityCentre or Woodway locations for brunch or Cyclone Anaya’s online at cycloneanaya.com.
Creamistry, the newest ice cream concept in Town & Country Village is more than a sweet treat, it’s a scientific experience. Visitors to the Memorial District are already excited about the shop. The grand opening on February 10 saw lines stretching down the sidewalk toward the Beltway with customers eager to craft a made-to-order creation using liquid nitrogen.
Owner Mohammad Albanaa is a civil engineer from Qatar who relocated to Houston last February. He signed the franchise agreement on March 2017, planning to open his store September 1, 2017. Unfortunately, Hurricane Harvey delayed the opening until February 2018. Albanaa said despite all he went through he recognizes that helping his customers and making them happy is what is most important: "You own your own business, serving people, seeing the smiles on children's faces, this is the most important thing. I love [it].”
Creamistry was originally founded in California in 2013. They now have franchises in Arizona, Texas, Louisiana and California where customers design and Creamologists create one-of-a-kind desserts.
Start your creation with a base - signature or organic dairy, non-dairy coconut or sorbet. From there, pick a flavor from options including Cinnamon Toast Crunch®, Matcha Green Tea, Cookie Butter and Caramel. Next choose toppings from a selection of candies, cereals, fruit, nuts and sauces like mochi, rainbow sprinkles, cheesecake bites and marshmallow cream.
Creamologists mix the custom elections and that’s when the science happens: they freeze the conconction with liquid nitrogen. Clouds billow out of the mixer, a product of the checmical reaction that produces decadently creamy results and an exciting visual experience.
The nitrogen freezes at -321F, so cold the ice cream has to be warmed before it can be scooped, topped and served . The rapid freezing, however results in ice cream that is incredibly creamy and rich in flavor.
Want to elevate dessert? Add a vanilla cone or a brownie or indulge in a bowl crafted out of chocolate. Caffine afficinados can sample the Creamistry take on affogato or sip on a Nitro Float.
Creamistry ice cream is a tasty as it is fascinating and the shop is open for school tours and events. Come craft a creation of your own at 791 Town and Country Blvd Ste 140 or online at creamistry.com.

CITYCENTRE has some of the District’s favorite shops, restaurants and entertainment, however many first-time and repeat guest aren’t sure where to find the best parking to meet their needs. Here is your Memorial District guide to Parking at CITYCENTRE to make it a little easier.
CITYCENTRE has three parking options: street, garage, and valet. In recent years CITYCENTRE has converted street parking and 1st floor garage parking to metered, leaving70% of the parking free to the public!
Street parking includes all open spaces in front of shops and restaurants in and around the plaza and along the Beltway feeder. Street parking is $2.50 per 30 minutes with a maximum of $25 and can be paid with cash or credit card at meter stations or through the Passport Parking app. First-time users of Passport Parking can get a FREE parking session with discount code 713713. Great news is a portion of all money collected goes to Memorial Assistance Ministries to help local families in need.
CITYCENTRE has four parking garages. These garages offer a mix of paid, reserved, and free spaces. A new electronic guidance system helps guests find a spot more efficiently. The light above a space is green if the space is available, red if it’s unavailable and purple if it is reserved. First-floor parking is available in Garages 1 (Studio Movie Grill), 2 (Brio & Sephora), and 3 (LifeTime Athletic) for $1.50 per 30 minutes with a maximum of $15. In all garages, level 2 and above are free, though some spaces may be reserved for tenants or valet. Garage 5 is attached to the CITYCENTRE FIVE building. Please reference the details breakdown of each garage below and view the CITYCENTRE map for a full layout.
On Friday and Saturday nights when CITYCENTRE is busiest, Garage 3 usually has less vehicle traffic as it’s the easiest to get in and out of, is larger and more open.
Valet parking is available in five designated areas for $8 (hours vary per stand); overnight hotel valet parking is $21 per night. Valet parking is always complimentary for Sewell Cadillac customers.
Still don’t want to navigate the parking garages, the following restaurants validate valet tickets when you patronize their establishment: Zayed’s, The General Public, Eddie V’s, Seasons 52, The Capital Grille, Brio, Radio Milano, and Bowl & Barrel.
Wherever you park, navigating through the beautiful plaza or getting a feel for the retail and restaurant offerings, it makes for an engaging experience.

Kuu opened in 2014 and has been wooing customers ever since with its bold play on Japanese flavors inspired by locally-sourced ingredients. A dynamic feature in the Memorial District, Kuu is consistently ranked among the best sushi restaurants in the city.
Chef-owner Adison Lee has taken the meaning of Kuu-“the art of eating”- seriously and created a menu that is as interesting as it is refined, elevating modern Japanese cuisine.
All of Kuu’s ingredients are locally sourced except for weekly shipments of proteins from Japan’s famous Tsukiji Market. Chef Lee’s focus on quality and freshness is evident in every bite.
In addition to sushi, sashimi and rolls, customer favorites include the rich and tangy Truffle Suzuki Roll and the fish selection. Diners interested in tapas-style dishes should try small plates from the Hot and Cold menu which often feature Chef Lee’s newest creations. The Featured Tastings menu highlight market and seasonal dishes, and the indulgent Omakase is a chef’s tasting of fresh and special items tailored to the customer’s interests and taste preferences.
Another feature of Kuu is the extensive wine selection. Wine pairs well with sushi and in exploring the addition of wine to fine Japanese dining, Kuu has curated a wine selection that has earned an excellence rating from Wine Spectator magazine in 2016 and 2017.
With a friendly staff that’s as passionate about customer service as Lee is about food, this chef-driven restaurant is an experience, not just good eating.
Don’t miss Kuu any day of the week, but make sure to take advantage of their fantastic weekday happy hours from 4:30pm to 6:30pm and Two-for-One Sushi Sundays from 12pm to 4:30pm.
Visit Kuu at the Gateway, 947 Gessner Road, on online at www.kuurestaurant.com.
