Modern and minimalistic, similar to a futuristic laboratory with clean white stark countertops, Creamistry operates with scientific precision. The process of freezing milk by liquid nitrogen allows the milk particles to remain very small which results in ultra-smooth and creamy texture. During the process of freezing, liquid nitrogen is released into the mixing bowl producing a cloud of cold smoke. The whole experience is exciting to watch. Make sure to bring your kids, the clouds will have them going crazy!

Pops of color come from the televisions that describe exactly how you can order your ice cream. Nothing is premade except the take-home pints; everything is made to order.

Signature creations are very popular. The Unicorn tastes like creamy cotton candy and is a perfect pink and blue dream. Another top pick is Cookie Monster, which comes in a bright teal blue color to match the beloved character on Sesame Street. The Orio and Chips Ahoy cookies mixed with ice cream creates a perfect balance making Cookie Monster a favorite at the top of the list. Check out other fun creations such as the Elvis Presley and the Ruby Cacao. One of the popular sorbet creations is the Mangonada made with mango, chamoy sauce and lime, perfect for a hot summer day.

Milk options include, organic cashew or coconut milk, as well as premium milk (which is recommended for a creamier taste). Then you choose your flavor which ranges from chocolate to matcha green tea. Sorbets are available as a non-dairy option.

If you’re looking to take your icy treats home, Creamistry offers toppings in fun test tubes to take home so you can be an ice cream scientist on your own. Creamistry is located at 791 Town and Country Boulevard, Suite 140 in Town & Country Village. They can be reached at info@creamistry.com.

It's that time of the year when we express appreciation and honor dads, grandfathers, step-dads and all men who are as a father figure in our lives. However, each year trying to find a perfect gift that is not a tie or a wallet can be challenging. With the closing of the Sears store, MetroNational is taking the opportunity to envision what changes are needed not only to that wing but the entire mall site to ensure it remains a top shopping and entertainment destination.

MetroNational hired the  Trademark Property Company, the Texas-based retail and mixed-use developer, investor and institutional services firm, to lead planning efforts for the redevelopment of Memorial City Mall.

Trademark will develop a plan that re-envisions Memorial City Mall as an integrated, vibrant component of the entire 265-acre Memorial City campus. Redevelopment initiatives will include, but not be limited to, reimagining the south side of the mall, which has now become a major opportunity with the closing of Sears. The goal of the project is to create a one-of-a-kind experience for shoppers and visitors through additional public spaces, increased walkability, more best-in-class retail, restaurants and entertainment uses, curated mixed-use, and a master plan for the next 50 years and beyond.

“We will be working closely with the Johnson family and other stakeholders in the community over the next 12 months to develop an actionable plan for taking Memorial City Mall to the next level,” said Tommy Miller, Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer, Trademark Property Company. “This strategic property is poised to enhance its position as the market dominant shopping destination in west Houston for many decades to come.”

Developed and owned by Houston-based MetroNational, Memorial City is located along the I-10 corridor just inside Beltway 8. The premier mixed-use development currently has 9-million-square-feet of developed real estate, including Memorial City Mall, 3.1-million-square-feet of Class A office space, multi-family units comprised of highrise, midrise, and garden apartments, The Westin Memorial City and Hotel ZaZa Memorial City, and the Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center.

“MetroNational is excited to collaborate with Trademark to deliver a best of class development that will transform Memorial City Mall,” said Jason Johnson, President of MetroNational. “With Trademark’s expertise in mixed-use developments and MetroNational’s six decades of experience in west Houston, the end result will be spectacular and undoubtedly benefit the community for generations to come.”

"If you don’t embrace and capitalize on the paradigm shifts occurring in the retail and shopping center world today, you are losing ground fast,” said Terry Montesi, CEO, Trademark Property Company. “This is an evolving legacy asset, and MetroNational and Trademark are thrilled to partner in its transformation.”

While every day is National Wine Day in our opinion, take a moment – or two – this weekend to enjoy National Wine Day. The official National Wine Day is this Saturday, May 25 and many varietals even have their own day of celebration. We invite you to come have a glass of your favorite wine in The District.

Whether you enjoy the big, bold taste of a cabernet sauvignon or the light, summery flavor of a pinot grigio you will find the perfect bottle at one of the many District restaurants and bars. We are after all, one of Houston’s top destinations for libations, food and entertainment.

You can explore many wonderful locations for wine in The District. We suggest starting at with locally-owned Ciro’s Italian Grill. Try a Super Tuscan or a Brunello with a hearty plate of pasta. If it’s steak you want, pair a bold cabernet sauvignon or zinfandel with your dinner at Perry’s or Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar.  Or try a few South American varietals such as Malbec or Tannat at Churrascos, Sal Y Pimienta or Texas de Brazil.

We suggest a pinot noir or sauvignon blanc to pair with seasonal fare at Season’s 52. If you stop by Radio Milano, try a Nebbiolo or port.

The Tasting Room offers happy hour seven days a week from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Every Wednesday the 024 Grille hosts a happy hour and/or dinner with 50% off all bottles of wine under $100.

If you are looking to purchase a bottle or more for a gift or to enjoy at home, stop by Leibman’s to pick from their carefully curated selection of wines or at the always popular well-stocked selection at HEB.

Catch up with your friends, colleagues, or have a mid-week date, while enjoying great food, atmosphere, and great wine in the Memorial District.

Each week, starting May 27 through August 19, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., they can enjoy learning activities, exciting field trips, healthy eating and physical activities, swimming, rock climbing, games, character development, and more.

Do your kids love staying in their pajamas all day — no problem, pick Pajama's Party week. If they want to become secret agents, space travelers, or take a trip back in time — there are camps for that too! Here is a quick look of all weeks.

Animation Domination (May 27-31 & August 19-23)

Campers, it’s visual story time! Put your imagination in motion with the help of new-tech, high-tech and classic techniques. Time Machine (June 3– 7)

Take a trip back in time as we explore the best of the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s! Each day, we’ll travel through a new decade and discover the unique trends, cultural events and historic moments that shaped each one. Era-appropriate costumes are encouraged to represent the best of each decade.

Dinosaur Dynamics (June 10-14)

Dinosaurs may be extinct, but they’ll come alive at Life Time Summer Camp this year. We’ll dive deep into different species, learn about fossils, and go out on a dinosaur hunt to search for that ever-cool T- rex. Get your inner paleontologist ready and come learn about this fascinating world.

Fortress Nights (June 17-21)

Calling all ye brave crusaders! Come ready to storm the fortress and protect thy castle with homemade swords, shields and torches, then learn about your family crest, and be prepared to joust on your galloping horses.

Pajama Party (June 24-28)

Comfy, cozy, soft and fluffy — it’s PJ day all day at Life Time! Wake your sleepy eyes and we’ll make dream catchers and sleep masks, play an ultimate game of pillow fight, or take a nap. Pajama fun is whatever you can dream up.

Larger Than Life (July 1-5)

Ever wondered who the tallest person in the world is? Or the biggest building? How about the highest roller coaster? You’ll find the answer to all these questions and more as we research what it means to be larger than life. Then, we’ll create mini figurines of everyday essentials to make YOU feel larger than life.

Glitter & Slime (July 8-12)

Glitter AND slime? It’s the unicorn equivalent of fun! Kids will make their own glitter confetti, glitter bombs and — of course — glitter slime. And while glitter at home is a sparkly headache for parents, glitter at Life Time stays at Life Time. Get ready for a sparkly, slimy-good time!

Emoji Week (July 15-19)

We want to make happy campers at Life Time, so we’ve made a whole week of emojis. We are so happy for all the fun this week has to offer. Whether we’re making emoji squish balls, painting our favorite emoji or building a team emoji banner, we’re certain there won’t be any at Life Time this week

Secret Agents & Escape Rooms (July 22- 26)

There’s a mystery going on at Life Time Summer Camp, and we need our top detectives to help us solve it. Don’t worry, we’ll equip you with fingerprint analysis, ways to deactivate a bomb and the clues needed to escape, but do you have what it takes to unravel the mystery?

Space Travelers (July 29- August 2)

3...2...1...BLASTOFF! Ever wondered how an astronaut eats and drinks in space? What about why the moon appears in different phases? And let’s not forget the craziness of constellations. Come prepared to float through the world of space this week as we explore the final frontier.

Wizardry vs. Science (August 5-9)

Did you know bubbly potions use the magic of chemistry? History, legends and more have incredible relationships with science. This week, we’ll make wizard wands and conjure the whiz- bang magical fun of mysteries and science.

Someone has a stroke every 40 seconds in the United States, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. May is Stroke Awareness month, a time when people are encouraged to empower themselves with knowledge surrounding the signs of stroke, reducing the risk of stroke and taking action when stroke occurs.

“It’s a myth that strokes are completely random. There are things you can do to manage your risk factors for stroke including quitting smoking, managing your diabetes, getting moderate exercise, and maintaining a healthy weight. It’s also important to keep your blood pressure within the healthy range, as high blood pressure increases your risk for stroke and several other serious conditions, like a heart attack,” said Joshua Feinstein, MD, FACEP, an emergency physician affiliated with Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center.

The acronym BE FAST can help people quickly recognize common signs of stroke and know when to take action:

  • Balance – Is there a sudden loss of balance or coordination?
  • Eyes – Is there sudden blurred or double vision, or sudden, persistent vision trouble?
  • Face Drooping– Ask the person to smile. Is the person’s smile uneven or lopsided?
  • Arm Weakness – Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one side drift downward? Is there weakness or numbness on one side?
  • Speech Difficulty – Does the person have slurred or garbled speech? Can he/she repeat a simple phrase, such as “The sky is blue.”?
  • Time to Call 911 – Call 911 if you notice one or more of these signs, even if the symptoms go away. Tell the 911 operator you think it’s a stroke. Also, take note of when symptoms began.

“There’s a phrase, ‘time is brain’, meaning the faster you can get treatment for a stroke, the better the chances of recovery,” Dr. Feinstein said.

The neuroscience program at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center brings together a collaborative group of affiliated fellowship-trained, board-certified neurologists and neurosurgeons supported by a highly trained, specialized and dedicated nursing staff. As a team, they are prepared to treat acute brain, spinal cord and neural conditions, so patients can receive advanced treatment close to home. For more information on neuroscience care, visit neuro.memorialhermann.org.
