Owner and creator, Janet Thuot, formerly a kindergarten teacher at River Oaks Baptist, knows a thing or two about engaging kids. She started The Pinkie’s Up Spot in 1995 with a trailer, a love for working with children and a mission to create special party experiences for kids age 3-10. She traveled all around the Houston area hosting parties at homes from Clear Lake to Sugar Land to Spring.
Five years ago, she decided to set up shop at a permanent location and found space that suited her needs in the shopping center at the corner of Kingsride and Frostwood in the Memorial District. The shop allows for a boutique in the front and a beautiful, multi-faceted party space in the rear.
The boutique offer rompers and smocked outfits, gowns and footwear ranging from newborn up to tween featuring designers like from Runaway Pony, Le Za Me, and Giggle Moon. In addition, Thuot sells a range of age-appropriate toys and gifts and seasonal items like DIY gifts for Father’s Day.
The party space is awash in color and design with a stage, tables ready for tea, and plenty space for adventures. For girls, the Pinkies Up Spot offers 18 uniquely themed and thoughtfully planned party ideas from a “Fairy Tea Party” to “‘Pop Star’ Idol”. Boys can celebrate with themes like a “Knight to Remember” or “Operation Commando”.
Thuot plans and orchestrates each party with the assistance of high school helpers who connect with the kids and enrich the party experience with their enthusiasm and energy. Every detail from snacks to decorations is covered, and with a goal of keeping “your birthday child and all their friends entertained and engaged from start to finish,” The Pinkies Up Spot truly offers a one-of-a-kind party experience.
