Holiday Happenings in the Memorial District

November 18, 2019

The Memorial District is the place to be during the holidays! We have fun, family-friendly events throughout the season. So let us spread a little cheer and make your holidays merry and bright!

Glisten Holiday Lighting, City Centre

Share in the fun of the District’s annual holiday lighting Saturday, November 23 from Noon to 9 pm. There is 100% chance for snow in the City Centre plaza, so grab a sled and take a ride down the 5-foot snow slides or build a snowman in the snow box. The DJ will set the stage for the evening’s festivities at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m. there will be an Ice carving demonstration where Sewell Cadillac will keep you warm with complimentary hot chocolate and apple cider and then at 8 p.m. the countdown will begin to the evening’s anticipated lighting.

The lineup is subject to change and dependent on weather.

Holiday in the Plaza, City Centre

Santa kicks off the Holiday in the Plaza festivities, Saturday, November 30 when he arrives in his Sewell Cadillac at 12 p.m. to spread holiday cheer and pose for pictures. Help CityCentre fill Santa's ride with new, unwrapped toys to be donated to Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus in exchange for a complimentary picture with the big guy. You can also hang out with Life Time Athletic and decorate a new ornament for the tree. At 1, 3:30, and 5 p.m., catch the Houston Show Choir as it fills the plaza with rocking Christmas songs.

Visit Santa at St. Nick’s Park, Memorial City Mall

You will find Santa and his elves at St. Nick’s Park in the Dillard’s wing where you can share your wish list and have your picture taken to preserve the memories.

Families with special needs children can come on December 1st and 8th from 8:30-10:30am for Santa Cares. We have teamed up with Autism Speaks to create a sensory-friendly environment so everyone can experience the time-honored tradition of a visit with Santa.

Bring your furry family member to take photos with Santa, Sunday, December 15th, from 6-9pm, at Pet Night.

Jingle & Mingle at The Square

Every Saturday evening from December 7-21, 6-9 p.m. is Jingle & Mingle where Houston’s best musicians will be putting on a free performance. Enjoy complimentary popcorn and plenty of room to dance. The Memorial City Reindeer will make an appearance and there is a 100% chance of a snowfall!

Noon Year’s Eve at Memorial City Mall

This is the perfect celebration for families who don’t want to wait until midnight. Come to the Xfinity Fireplace, Tuesday, December 31 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a Noon Year’s Eve DJ dance party with face painters, balloon artists and then, when the clock strikes 12 p.m., celebrate with a massive balloon drop and lemonade toast!
